Welcome! If you found this video, or my recent posts on Five Ideas For Rethinking The World or Justice As Content to be useful, I invite you to become a free subscriber to get more of my articles on the intersection of strategy and culture.
When others see chaos, a strategist sees “order waiting to be deciphered.”
The trick is to find that order before anyone else does.
A couple months ago I was invited to give a talk at Stocksy on a topic many of you have asked me to revisit: Psychotechnology. Psychotechnology is the deep ideas, mental models, and invisible structures that quietly shape how culture actually moves. And it should be the basis of every strategy for brands that play in culture.
If my Amazon keynote explored how cultural vacuums are redefining the future of branding, this one looks at the layer beneath all of that, at why people behave the way they do when everything feels chaotic, and how those human patterns become the raw material of strategy.
Psychotechnology sits at the core of how I think about cultural change, and this talk builds on that in a way that feels especially relevant now. It’s about understanding the mechanisms of change that operate beneath the noise, where emotional anchors come untethered, where history loops back on itself, and where outdated cultural measurements are ready to collapse.
The team at Stocksy was generous enough to let me share the full 36-minute keynote with you today. If you’re a strategist, a builder, or someone trying to make sense of culture right now, I think this will give you a very different lens on what you’re seeing.
Chaos is where great strategies are born.

2026 is going to be an incredible year in Exposure Therapy, and this is your last chance to join before (what I think) will be our single most important topic launching in January:
Second Order Thinking
Most strategists can describe culture, but very few can interrogate it. Second order thinking is the difference.
It’s the ability to see consequences before they unfold, to translate noise into signal in a way AI cannot replicate. I rarely meet strategists who have this skill, and when they do, it transforms everything. Their insight quality, their creativity, their confidence, their client impact, and their sense of intellectual power are on a different level.
January will be a deep dive into this capability. We’ll show you how to build it, train it, and actually apply it. If you’ve been waiting to join, this is the month you don’t want to miss.
You can apply here.
